Cricket

Cork Harlequins Cricket Section is a vibrant part of Cork Harlequins Club. Formed in 1967, the club is family orientated with many of our members playing with their children on most weekends.

We play in the PremierFirst, Second, and Third divisions of the Munster Cricket Union. Our Senior team have won the Premier league twice in the last ten years and were runners up in 2018. We also have a Junior and Minor team, and in 2018, we entered a fourth team for the first time in the club’s history in order to cater for our expanding youth section.

We also provide a great deal of mid-week T20 fixtures for our ‘Masters’, who also tour around the country, and for our two youth teams, the Hurricanes and the Blasters. In total, we have seven teams entered in the Munster adult competitions!

We are always striving to develop our club and we place a particular emphasis on our youth. The majority of our Senior squad are aged between 13 and 25 and it is our policy to encourage anyone who shows pride and passion in the club and an appetite for success through hard work. The fruits of this can be seen in the fact that we had seven on the MCU U15 squad and one in the Ireland U15 squad.

We continue to develop our facilities and we have hosted Interprovincial matches and an Ireland U17 T20 match.

We welcome all grades of players, whether novices or veterans! We have a highly qualified coaching staff and are keen to help you develop into the player you want to be.

Youth

Our youth section is at the heart of everything we do in the club. We believe every child has potential and is entitled to an opportunity to flourish in a safe and enjoyable environment. We coach children from 6 years of age upwards.

Our team of youth mentors consists of Level 1 to 4 ECB/CI qualified coaches, aided by players from our first team. We are one of only two clubs in Ireland with a ECB Level 4 qualified coach, and it is an example of how much effort we put into our youth section. A club is only as strong as the players it produces. All of our participants are aware of the standards expected of them under CI rules on Good Practice in Child Protection. Details of our club’s code of conduct and anti-bullying policy can be found on the ‘Club Information’ followed by ‘Code of Ethics’ tabs on this website.
